About Us

The original Jake’s Boathouse opened in 1979, on Bramsteele Rd. (about 1km from our current location).
*1979 was the year of the Mississauga Train Wreck. In 1979 “Saturday Night Fever” was the number 1 album and McDonald’s introduced The “Happy Meal”.

Our goal from the very beginning was to serve great food, create a friendly bar atmosphere (“American Bar meets British Pub”) and feature great live music.

Jake’s Musical Heritage

In the early days, Jake’s was the home of traditional Dixieland Jazz. Our house band – “The Jake’s Goodtimes Jazz Band” were a huge draw during the early 80’s. Over the years, other great musicians have been part of our evolving music scene. Mark Haines & the Zippers (still great), Shox Johnson & the Jive Bombers (miss him), Professor Piano & the Rockin’ Deltoids (Professor, where did you go?), Danny B & the All-Stars (legendary), the late, great Jeff Healey (jazz trumpeter too!)…and many, many more.

Our live music vision has evolved over these many years but we have always stuck to our roots supporting live music performed by talented musicians. In 1994, we moved to our current site in the Orion Gate Power Centre. Here, we continue our commitment to make live music part of the Jake’s experience.
